Nike Permissions
Giving Nike consumers more control over their privacy and preferences.
Background
As Nike aimed to enhance consumer experiences with personalisation, it was crucial to obtain, store, and utilise consumer data in a way that respected members' privacy and complied with geo-privacy legislation like GDPR. As the Consumer Experience Manager, I led a talented team of designers and a copywriter to address this global challenge.
The 'Year of Permissions' Initiative
Our journey to redefine Nike's approach to consumer data encountered three critical challenges:
Revamping Nike Settings: Crafting a robust framework for permission and preference management to meet the evolving needs of our members.
Rethinking Nike Notifications: Innovating how we seek consent from members, ensuring relevance and timing in every interaction.
Clarifying Permission Requests: Designing permission requests that stand out for their clarity, value, and the power of choice they offer to Nike members.

Crafting the Solution
The strategy was clear: develop a data-driven design approach that places control firmly in the hands of our consumers. I reimagined how permissions and communication preferences could be managed across Nike.com and its mobile app ecosystem, including Nike Run Club, Nike Training Club, and SNKRS.
Through a combination of adding value while respecting our members' privacy, we not only met consumer expectations but set a new standard for the Nike experience, benefiting millions of users worldwide.
